NAA Scholarship Report
01/31/2010
First of all, I would like to thank the National Algae Association (NAA) for all the great things they do. I only can say that every single meeting that I have been to was a great success! The Quarterly meetings in Houston, Chapter meetings, new certification program, as well as the scholarship fund are making this association one of a kind.
Today, there is not one manufacturer that has been able to create an algae production system on such a colossal, commercial scale size, but it is the energy of today as well as tomorrow! With this organization, the National Algae Association, I can actually see the commitment of their progress in commercializing algae production systems. This organization has the whole spectrum to offer and to realize their vision and the ones of others. It is not a question of "if" anymore, but rather, "When?" The NAA is contributing a great part to this technology and accelerates its evolution by far. Personally, I think in this year 2010, many aspects will change in the Algae Industry. I believe that there will be many companies that will able to realize their goals.
The scholarship I have received went directly to fund my schooling. It was used to help me pay for school tuition. Have I made good use of this scholarship? I certainly did! This scholarship doesn´t represent just an amount of money, it represents all the people who are willing to contribute and invest into the future. Especially for me, I always like to have this additional motivation.
One of the biggest accomplishments I have made last year was actually during the NAA Conference in Houston when I received the scholarship. Receiving this scholarship was a great step into the future and I also made some really nice contacts with people from this industry. I met Mr. Jan Vanhoutte from SBAE-Industries. He was one of the speakers at the last Houston conference in September 2009. His technology of cultivating algae was different than that of anyone else. As a matter of fact, I decided then to get in contact with him. All I can tell you today is that we have established an exclusive distributor agreement for the CIS States. Both parties are looking forward for a successful year in 2010. Of course, I will share interesting accomplishments with the National Algae Association and I am very excited to do so.
Regarding my future plans I would like to quote a paragraph out of my scholarship application:
" · · ·I am an Algaepreneur and very interested in becoming a vital part of that organization. I have an extraordinary zeal for Algae, not as a researcher but more as a businessman. My dream is to work with the world´s leading companies of Algae production and Algae treatment, to learn from them, and also to distribute their equipment worldwide."
As you can see, I have accomplished one of my dreams. I made it possible to receive an exclusive distributor agreement with SBAE-Industries for the CIS States. I have learned a great deal more about algae and I cannot wait to learn even more about it. I think I have achieved the big fundamental part, which is a must have for a successful business. Also, I found a partner who is reliable and very interesting. As a next step, we are trying to find the right customer to commercialize our Algae production system and make this to the next step forward in the business. Because I am still in college and a part of the swim team, I unfortunately do not have the time to work as much as I actually would love to. Therefore, I am also very thankful to have a supporting family. I enjoy meeting new people from this industry and hope to make even more contacts in future.
The biggest thank goes to the National Algae Association. Without their quarterly meetings and their ambition of helping people realize their goals, I would never be able to be here at this point of my career.
Sincerely,
Waldemar Juschin
